Border Patrol Shot — By His Own

A few days ago the right-wing-the-aliens-are-coming! crowd pointed at the killing of another Border Patrol guard as more proof of their thesis: America is under invasion by lawless Mexicans and the entire southern border should put up a Texan Wall.

It turns out that the killing was a case of friendly fire — something which doesn’t exist in the fantasy world of NRA arm-all-passengers to stop hijackings.

The death is tragic.  More or less because from the weapons of his friends instead of drug smugglers I’ll leave others to debate.  Nor will the reversal of actual cause put an end to speculation by pundits everywhere before the facts are in: speculation sells and that is the dominant value in Market America.

The U.S. Border Patrol agent killed last week in a shooting in southern Arizona apparently opened fire on two fellow agents thinking they were armed smugglers and was killed when they returned fire, the head of the Border Patrol agents’ union said Sunday.  AP
